In an effort to increase citizen activity within the core of the City, the Rockledge Community Redevelopment Agency hosts a number of recurring community events within the redevelopment sub-districts. These activities encourage opportunities for interaction with friends, as well as a way to meet new people. Admission to most events is complimentary.
The City's signature events are described below:
Annual Art & Craft Show
The City of Rockledge Community Redevelopment Agency sponsors the Annual Rockledge Art and Craft Show. Each year, the show continues to grow, and we attribute that to the quality of the merchandise that is offered by our vendors. Items for sale must be either 100 percent hand-made, or substantially hand-altered, meaning that only the very basic elements of the product are not made from scratch.
The event is held in conjunction with the City’s “Cruise-On-In” car show, where more than 100 classic cars line the eastbound lanes of Barton Boulevard. Exhibitors arrange their displays in the westbound lanes. In addition to the car show, there is also music, a food court, and the presentation of the “Chairman’s Choice” award for best overall display. Vendors offer a wide array of items for sale, including everything from hand-crafted jewelry and artwork to homemade sauces and confections.
In 2013, the show will again span two days: Feb. 2 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and 3 (10 a.m. - 4 p.m.). Vendors interested in registering can access the registration form and rules and regulations by clicking here. Spectator admission is FREE!!!
Hot Rockin' Nights
The Agency also sponsors “Hot Rockin’ Nights” annually in October. Admission to Hot Rockin’ Nights is free and features trophies for 30 classic automobiles and “Cruiser of the Year,” which are voted on and determined by the attendees. A local disc jockey provides entertainment, and a wide array of activities is available for the children. Food vendors are also on hand, and the proceeds of a 50-50 raffle go to benefit a worthy cause.
In 2012, the date for Hot Rockin' Nights is on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Persons interested in registering a vehicle or spectators desiring more information can click here.
In partnership with the Cocoa Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, the Rockledge Community Redevelopment Agency sponsors the Chamber’s monthly Wednesday-Friendsday event every March. The Wednesday-Friendsday event offers Chamber members from throughout Brevard County, as well as Rockledge business owners and residents, the opportunity to network, meet new people and make new friends. The March Wednesday-Friendsday, which is held at Rockledge City Hall, is customarily very well attended. Each year, the City selects a theme, and participants dress and decorate their tabletop displays accordingly. A small admission fee of $10 is charged for Chamber members; non-members pay $20.
